Centres of Excellence
Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining (KDDM) is the non-trivial process of extracting implicit, novel, previously unknown and useful information from a large volume of data. It has emerged as a unique combination of several fields of Science and Technology including Statistics, Database systems, Computer programming, Machine learning, and Artificial Intelligence. KDDM spans a wide range of applications in Engineering (intrusion detection and network security, flow classification, Web mining), business (fraud detection, decision support systems, risk analysis, forecasting market trend), medicine and population health (study of drug implications, disease outbreak), bioinformatics (protein interactions, gene sequence analysis), environmental science (remote sensing, meteorology, climatology, precipitation prediction -rain, hail and snow).
The research projects in the KDDM lab focus on both novel techniques, merging applications of Data mining in Engineering, Science, and Environment. In particular, the focal points of the projects are study and development of (a) an advanced algorithms in stream data mining including bio-inspired algorithms; and (b) emerging applications of data mining in the areas of Engineering (network security, intrusion detection), Environment (precipitation, air pollution, oceanography, acid rains, global warming, forest fires etc.), disaster management (earthquakes, tsunami warning, landslides, hurricanes, flood prevention, thunderstorms etc.) and business analytics.
M.Tech/B.Tech students, who are interested in conducting research in these areas, are encouraged to send their applications to [email protected]. Please include a copy of your resume summarizing your related education and work experience, and a statement of your research interests.
The VCE aims to be at the forefront of education and research in Enterprise Integration. The Alliance program provides students with access to state-of-the-art enterprise software like SAP R/3 v.4.6.b. This will be used to help students build a solid background in the fundamentals of enterprise integration and allied field whilst exposing them to current technologies.
This exposure and education will give students a competitive hiring advantage while giving employers access to well-prepared graduates, skilled in the latest concepts & tools.
It is important to note that the program is NOT a training program for SAP software. We will use SAP R/3 to teach fundamental concepts related to the engineering and management of supply chains and the use and management of enterprise information systems. The software is not only an excellent tool but the Alliance will help VCE to incorporate the latest requirements and technologies in our curriculum development efforts.
The Alliance will also strengthen research in Enterprise Integration.
The SAP University Alliance Program is multi-disciplinary and is being run across multiple departments of VCE. The system has been configured to support about 400 concurrent users and the system can be accessed from SAP Centre of Excellence.
M.Tech/B.Tech students, who are interested in conducting research in these areas, are encouraged to send their applications to [email protected]. Please include a copy of your resume summarizing your related education and work experience, and a statement of your research interests.
The centre of excellence in VLSI systems using CADENCE design systems caters for the industry needs. The centre is established at a cost of Rs 25 lakh in the year 2010. Using this centre the students are given advanced training to get equipped with modern and latest needs. The B.Tech and M.Tech programs are designed to give an in-depth training and knowledge in the areas of Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASIC), Programming Digital Signal Processing (PDSP, Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) and so on. The centre also offers teacher training and certification courses. The centre caters to the needs of Basic VLSI Design Centre, HDL Modelling Centre, FPGA Design Centre, and Advanced VLSI Test Centre.
M.Tech/B.Tech students, who are interested in conducting research in these areas, are encouraged to send their applications to [email protected]. Please include a copy of your resume summarizing your related education and work experience, and a statement of your research interests.
VCE has signed MOU with National Instruments, Bangalore for setting up of National Instruments Academy and Received recognition for being an official LabVIEW Academy. It transforms the way engineers and scientists around the world in design, prototype, and deploy systems for test, control, and embedded design applications. LabVIEW software is ideal for any measurement or control system, and the heart of the NI design platform. Integrating all the tools that engineers and scientists need to build a wide range of applications in dramatically less time. LabVIEW is a development environment for problem-solving, accelerating productivity, and continual innovation.
The LabVIEW Academy curriculum gives students the opportunity to validate their knowledge and skills at a professional level with certification. After completion of the LabVIEW Academy program, students have the knowledge and tools to attempt the Certified LabVIEW Associate Developer (CLAD) certification exam with confidence. Experience and certification in LabVIEW can improve students’ career opportunities around the world – providing graduates and potential employers with benefits such as:
- Reliable validation and demonstration of skills and knowledge.
- Accelerated professional development, improved productivity and enhanced field credibility.
- Listing in the NI Certified Professionals database to demonstrate certification status.
M.Tech/B.Tech students, who are interested in conducting research in these areas, are encouraged to send their applications to [email protected]. Please include a copy of your resume summarizing your related education and work experience, and a statement of your research interests.

Overview
VCE Software Development and Solution Centre was initiated by the then Hon, Chairman of VCE Dr. Teegala Vijender Reddy on 11 June 2010 under guidance by the then Principal Dr. S.Sai Satyanarayana Reddy. With the Officer-In-Charge of centre as Mr. M. Krishna Rao Patro, Department of Master of Computer Applications.
This Center is currently managed by the Dr. K. Ramesh, Head of Department, Computer Science & Engineering, Vardhaman College of Engineering.
Objectives:
- To utilize the existing infrastructure and to satisfy the current software automation needs of the institution.
- To view change in the market as an opportunity to grow; to use our profits, technical expertise and our ability to develop and produce innovative products, services, and solutions that satisfy emerging customer needs.
- To develop & nurture leaders at every level who are accountable for achieving business results and exemplifying our values.
Current Status
The development centre has undertaken the task of developing VCE Campus Automation System that includes the modules like Administration & Security, Student Admission & Fee Processing, Academic & Examination departments, Library Management, Student Information System and HR Module. Data from the year 2010 has been successfully migrated from the existing Volksoft Smart Campus system to the newly developed Campus Automation System.
e-Learning has become an important tool to deliver the best digital content. VCE is in the process of designing the benchmark course content with the following major objectives:
- Collect, process and disseminate content developed by the faculty drawn from VCE and other colleges.
- Create web-based e-Learning platform and provide access to a range of e-resources available across the globe.
