Center of Excellence in Signal Processing and Communication

ABOUT:

Vardhaman College of Engineering has established a research center in signal processing and Communication in the academic year 2015-16 with the goal of undertaking fundamental research in signal processing and communication engineering. Research, at theoretical and applied levels, is conducted in this center. This Center offers multidisciplinary research programs.

The field of Signal Processing and Communications is a very important field of study in terms of phenomenal advances and attainments both on research and applications fronts. In the present era of computer revolution, the Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) plays a major role in enhancing the user experience, in a natural way, while communicating with the machines. It rules out the use of traditional devices like keyboard and mouse, and the user can perform an endless array of applications. Analysis involves intense mathematical modeling of signals and systems that leads to recognition, classification and conclusions. Experiments performed on wideband speech signals results in significant improvement in the performance of the system in comparison to the traditional techniques. Text on a documented image or video provides information of an image but it is tedious to manipulate or change the text on a documented image. To make any changes or manipulate the text matter present on an image, the documented image needs to be segmented further, so that it can be analyzed. This analysis involves segmentation, isolation and recognization of text regions. To provide more resilience to the attacks, a dynamic routing strategy was required, through which there will be no fixed paths between source and destination.

Investigations, research and experimentation spanning over such a diversified range of signals and communication network under the shelter of an academic and development centre, with focused laboratories is a need of time. This multidisciplinary Centre of Excellence in “Signal Processing and Communications”, at VCE-ECE, intends to harness the potential of our human resource and the participating industry, in terms of UG, PG education and PhD programs, to match global standards and competitiveness in this much diversified and potent arena of development. With Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at the nuclear position, other departments viz. Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer science Engineering will cohesively contribute to the development of this Centre in terms of patents and referred publications, developing real life applications, useful to industry and society at large, with the ultimate objective of generating passionate and resourceful researchers in the domain.
