Memorandum of Understandings with Leading Industries and Organizations (MOU’s)

VCE aims to be at the forefront of education and research in Enterprise Integration. The Alliance program provides students with access to state-of-the-art Enterprise software like SAP R/3 v.4.6.b. This will be used to help students build a solid background in the fundamentals of enterprise integration and allied field whilst exposing them to current technologies.

This exposure and education will give students a competitive hiring advantage while giving employers access to well prepared graduates, skilled in the latest concepts & tools.

It is important to note that the program is NOT a training program for SAP software. We will use SAP R/3 to teach fundamental concepts related to the engineering and management of supply chains and the use and management of enterprise information systems. The software is not only an excellent tool but the Alliance will help VCE to incorporate the latest requirements and technologies in our curriculum development efforts.

The Alliance will also strengthen research in Enterprise Integration.

The SAP University Alliance Program is multi-disciplinary and is being run across multiple departments of VCE. The system has been configured to support about 400 concurrent users and the system can be accessed from SAP Centre of Excellence.

Infosys Technologies Ltd. launched Campus Connect program, an industry-academia partnership initiative, with 60 colleges in India. Among them Vardhaman College of Engineering is one of the premiere institutions that has taken this opportunity and run this program successfully.

The IT services industry is, by nature, ‘people-centric’ and the demand for quality manpower is rising continuously. Quality manpower is essential to remain ahead of competition in the global market place. The need for industry-academia partnership has been strongly felt and this is required to enhance the readiness of engineering graduate workforce and to make engineering students industry ready.

The initiative was aimed at deepening the industry-academia bonds and building a strong foundation for the future needs of both academia and the growing IT industry. The core of the Campus Connect program is the Foundation Program rolls out at the college premises. This FP courseware represents the Intellectual Property and experience of Infosys in training thousands of entry-level engineers from heterogeneous backgrounds and disciplines to deliver world-class projects to global customers. The purpose of the FP courseware is to provide a unique set of teaching aids and consolidated training material to the college faculty to help them make students industry ready.

Campus Connect gives an industry perspective to faculty members through seminars and workshops. It also publishes Infosys courseware on the Campus Connect portal. The courseware adds value to the existing college courseware and highlights the integrated, systems way of looking at hitherto discrete topics. The courseware is used at Infosys to prepare new recruits to global industry-ready standards. This program also invites college professors on sabbaticals to the Infosys campus, to pursue mutual research areas of interest.

Campus connect organizes Aspirations 2020 – a programming contest for students of engineering colleges to prepare themselves to become smart professionals. This contest encourages the spirit of competitiveness and accelerated learning through extracurricular activities within the student community.

IBM collaborated with Vardhaman College of Engineering, Hyderabad, by opening a Centre of Excellence (CoE) the aim of providing world- class skills to students on IBM Technologies. The centre provides an opportunity for students to learn new skill-sets on the latest technologies and IBM products. IBM provides the college with access to technologies relevant to the market and equip the faculty with the knowledge to ensure students are able to gain first-hand experience on all IBM products installed in the college.

It will also give lecturers and students the opportunity to learn, to develop their knowledge and to enhance their skills related to IBM software such as the IBM DB2, WebSphere, Lotus, Rational and Tivoli technologies; to hardware in mainframes, power and storage systems, and to hot technologies such as cloud computing and business analytics.

VCE provides the infrastructure and high-end system while IBM will provide the entire software suite free of charge.

Through the IBM Academic Initiative, IBM is working with colleges and universities across the country to teach students the open-standards skills they’ll need to compete in the ever-changing technology workplace.

This initiative offers a wide range of technology education benefits that can be scaled to meet the goals of most educational institutions, ranging from large research universities to local community colleges.

What’s more, it can provide the resources needed for Vardhaman College of engineering students to create more competitive academic programs and more highly skilled students.

The centre of excellence In VLSI systems using CADENCE design systems caters for the industry needs. The centre is established at a cost of Rs 25 lakhs in the year 2010. VCE has signed MOU with National Instruments, Bangalore for setting up of National Instruments Academy and received recognition for being an official LabVIEW Academy. It transforms the way engineers and scientists around the world design, prototype, and deploy systems for test, control, and embedded design applications. LabVIEW software is ideal for any measurement or control system, and the heart of the NI design platform. Integrating all the tools that engineers and scientists need to build a wide range of applications in dramatically less time, LabVIEW is a development environment for problem-solving, accelerated productivity, and continual innovation.

The LabVIEW Academy curriculum gives students the opportunity to validate their knowledge and skills at a professional level with certification. After completion of the LabVIEW Academy program, students have the knowledge and tools to attempt the Certified LabVIEW Associate Developer (CLAD) certification exam with confidence. Experience and certification in LabVIEW can improve students’ career opportunities around the world – providing graduates and potential employers with benefits such as:

  1. Reliable validation and demonstration of skills and knowledge.
  2. Accelerated professional development, improved productivity, and enhanced field credibility.
  3. Listing in the NI Certified Professionals database to demonstrate certification status.

Vardhaman College of Engineering is a member of the Indo-U.S. Collaboration for Engineering Education (IUCEE). This collaboration was designed to offer practical training for engineering professors in India, who are often underprepared and overwhelmed by the demands of teaching.

Networks will be created between US and Indian faculty and colleges of engineering via the summer institutes and tours of US colleges by heads and faculty of Indian engineering colleges. These networks will enable the identification of best practices which can be replicated and scaled up. Networks will be assisted in developing specific long term collaborations in:

• Research & Development
