TRIBOLOGY SOCIETY OF INDIA
The application of correct Tribological practices can protect and enhance the life of plants and machinery, improve efficiency of operations, reduce energy consumption and prevent expensive breakdowns. Major organizations and academic institutions in the country have realized the importance of Industrial Tribology and its relevance to modern design and efficient plant maintenance . To provide a common umbrella to work further in this area, Tribology society of India (TSI) was set up as a professional, non-profit body bringing together academicians, industry as well as research organizations as its members. It was set up in its present form, in June 1989, with its headquarters at Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, Corporate R&D at Hyderabad. This society is affiliated to the International Tribology Council, UK which has 33 other national societies spread all over the world . The activities related to tribology in the country started way back in 1972 , when First International Conference on Tribology was organized by Indian Institute of Technology at New Delhi. Continuing with this, a series of National and International Conferences had been organized in the last 29 years. The society has seven local chapters organizing a number of events like seminars and workshops. The society also has a regular quarterly newsletter, which will soon be developed into a full-fledged journal. There are plans to bring out Tribology series Booklets to disseminate information related to various topics of interest to industries.

SOCIETY of AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERS INDIA
SAEINDIA is India’s leading resource for mobility technology. As an individual member driven society of mobility practitioners the ownership of SAEINDIA wrests with its members who are Individuals from the mobility community, which includes Engineers Executives from Industry, Government Officials, Academics and Students. SAEINDIA is an affiliate society of SAE International registered in India as an Indian nonprofit engineering and scientific society dedicated to the advancement of mobility industry in India. The officers in Section Governing Boards, Operating boards and Committees share the onus of its efficient functioning here. All efforts are on now with a single minded purpose to propel the automotive engineering profession by focusing on three trends occurring in the automotive industry today that affect all automotive engineers and engineering societies. During its hundred plus years, the automotive industry has achieved remarkable progress in both production output and technological development. However, associated with this progress has been a slight yet noticeable lag in the level of technological development as compared to the increase in production volume. The founding principle of the SAE International is to unite scientific and technical staff to perform free academic discussions, to dedicate themselves to the cause of prospering the science and technology for automotive vehicles and to make contributions to speed up the modernization of automotive industry. A great deal of effort has been expended to make these definitions suit this purpose. It is recognized quite well by both SAEINDIA and SAE Internationalwhich keeps on raising its bar on standards since like linguistic dictionaries; even our efforts and purpose must be revised periodically to reflect current usage and changing needs.

American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers
ASHRAE, founded in 1894, is a building technology society with more than 54,000 members worldwide. The Society and its members focus on building systems, energy efficiency, indoor air quality, refrigeration and sustainability within the industry. Through research, standards writing, publishing and continuing education, ASHRAE shapes tomorrow’s built environment today. ASHRAE was formed as the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers by the merger in 1959 of American Society of Heating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHAE) founded in 1894 and The American Society of Refrigerating Engineers (ASRE) founded in 1904. ASHRAE also publishes a well recognized series of standards and guidelines relating to HVAC systems and issues. These standards are often referenced in building codes, and are considered useful standards for use by consulting engineers, mechanical contractors, architects, and government agencies. These are legally unenforceable, except when referenced as mandatory provisions in building codes, but are commonly accepted standards for architects and engineers. The ASHRAE Journal is a monthly magazine published by ASHRAE. It includes peer-reviewed articles on the practical application of HVAC&R technology, information on upcoming meetings and product shows, classified and display advertising, and editorials. Members of ASHRAE receive the magazine and the current year’s volume of the ASHRAE Handbook as membership benefits.
