Counseling is an integral part of the student career. The impact of classrooms teachings may or tend to cause unforeseen discomfiture which will influence multifaceted ways. Therefore the counselors should strive to adopt strategies aptly devised that will enable them to.
Function as a concerned and resourcefully support person.
Clarify the students about their role, as some if not everyone will see him/her as an authority figure, which may be found difficult in seeking nexus with them.
Listening to the students further improve the levels of proximity. The students should be allowed to avail time to express their thoughts and feelings as fully as possible.
Recognize the problem (a). Address the personality clashes or differences with which a student has agonized.
(b).Offer support by directly expressing concern and empathize with their grievances.
Suggest alternatives for action i.e students will often generate the best plans of action for themselves, but the counselor can help a student asses and use both personal resources and outside support for solving his/her problems.
Follow up of efforts, where a student has made a decision towards a conflict with a counselor’s help, then check back a few days or weeks later to get feedback about the development. However, the approach of the counselor should be within limits of endurance and non-instinctive ones.
Working with student attitudes.
Confidentiality while referring the case to a Psychotherapist/analyst, due care should be taken without letting the student to get excommunicated.
Exposure to academic skills coaching. This will result positively in tackling the ambivalent nature of the coaching.
