Entrepreneurship Ecosystem

The Centre for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (CIE) at Vardhaman College of Engineering fosters a vibrant startup ecosystem that supports students in transforming innovative ideas into sustainable entrepreneurial ventures. The institution provides a structured environment where students can explore entrepreneurship, develop prototypes, receive mentorship, and build technology-driven startups addressing real-world challenges.

Through its incubation initiatives, the center enables students from multiple engineering disciplines to actively participate in startup development and entrepreneurial activities, thereby promoting innovation-led growth and problem-solving

Entrepreneurship Cell (E-Cell)

The Entrepreneurship Cell (E-Cell) at Vardhaman College of Engineering plays an important role in promoting entrepreneurial awareness and startup culture among students. The cell serves as a platform that encourages students to explore entrepreneurship, develop innovative ideas, and connect with the institutional incubation ecosystem.

E-Cell regularly organizes entrepreneurship awareness programs, innovation challenges, mentoring sessions, and interactive workshops to help students understand the fundamentals of startup development, business models, and product innovation. Through these initiatives, students gain exposure to the entrepreneurial ecosystem and develop confidence to transform their ideas into viable ventures. The activities of the E-Cell complement the incubation ecosystem by acting as an entry point for aspiring student entrepreneurs, guiding them towards idea validation, prototype development, and eventually incubation under the VEC Centre for Research and Innovation Foundation (CRIF).

E-Cell Vision

Empowering aspiring entrepreneurs by fostering innovation and cultivating a vibrant startup culture under a dynamic ecosystem to turn their ideas into impactful startups.

Incubation Unit – VEC Centre for Research and Innovation Foundation (CRIF)

To strengthen startup development and entrepreneurial activities on campus, Vardhaman College of Engineering established a dedicated incubation center in 2018 under the name V-Hub. The incubation center was later formally registered in 2023 as the VEC Centre for Research and Innovation Foundation (CRIF) under the Companies Act as a Section 8 company, with the Corporate Identification Number CIN: U85500TS2023NPL174501.

Startup Incubation

Entrepreneurship and innovation have gained significant momentum at Vardhaman College of Engineering, with multiple startup teams emerging from various engineering disciplines. These ventures are supported through the institution’s structured pre-incubation and incubation ecosystem, which provides guidance, mentoring, and access to innovation infrastructure.

The incubation ecosystem supports startups working across diverse domains such as digital platforms, product development, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies, enabling innovators to develop solutions that address real-world challenges. Several ventures emerging from this ecosystem have also received recognition under the Startup India initiative of the Government of India, reflecting the growing entrepreneurial culture within the campus. The center continues to nurture innovative ideas and entrepreneurial initiatives by providing an enabling environment that encourages innovators to transform concepts into viable products and scalable ventures.

A detailed list of startups supported under the incubation ecosystem is available in the document provided below.

Startup Recognition & Support

Several startups emerging from the Vardhaman innovation ecosystem have been recognized under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Government of India, under the Startup India initiative. This recognition enables startups to access national-level support including mentoring, funding opportunities, and ecosystem networking.

Innovation & Startup Application

The CIE welcomes and encourages students, innovators, startups, and technologists to bring forward innovative ideas that address real-world challenges. The center provides structured support for idea development, prototyping, intellectual property protection, startup incubation, and funding opportunities. Innovators can begin by submitting an Innovation Idea / Concept Document describing the proposed solution, objectives, technology requirements, development timeline, and budget plan. Based on the novelty and feasibility of the idea, selected proposals are guided through mentoring and prototype development.

Entrepreneurs who wish to develop their ideas into startups may apply for incubation at CIE by submitting a business plan and incubation application. Shortlisted applicants present their proposal before an evaluation committee that reviews the technical innovation, market potential, team strength, and commercial viability of the idea. Selected startups receive access to workspace, institutional laboratories, faculty mentorship, industry guidance, and startup development support.

CIE also supports innovators in protecting Intellectual Property (IPR) arising from research and product development. Inventors can submit an Invention Disclosure to the Dean (R&D) for evaluation and further assistance in patent filing and commercialization.

In addition, startups and innovators may benefit from government-supported innovation programs, including incubation schemes that provide prototype development support and funding assistance for promising ideas.
