About the Library

The Library of Vardhaman College of Engineering is a hub of knowledge designed to support teaching, learning, and research. Located in Block-6, the library spans 2788 sq. mts. (30,000 sq. ft.) across two floors with a seating capacity of 350 users. Equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, digital resources, and automated services, the library fosters a vibrant academic environment that encourages intellectual exploration and lifelong learning.

The library maintains a vast and continuously updated collection of print and electronic resources. It houses a rich and diverse range of materials that support all academic programmes.

The Library at Vardhaman is the powerhouse of knowledge which shelves a collection of 69,046 volumes and 11,450 titles of books. Furthermore, it has subscribed to over 28819 Online Journals of IEEE ASPP & POP Online, ASME, ASCE, J-Gate (Social & Management Sciences), and 35 Lakh e-books of World E-Book Library and subscribed to more than 122 Indian and International Journals & Magazines in Print.

           The largest section containing the general collection, classified using the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) scheme and arranged for easy browsing.

  1. Reference Section

           A specialized collection of encyclopaedias, dictionaries, yearbooks, atlases, biographies, and other essential reference sources.

  1. Periodicals Section

         Access to national and international journals and magazines in print form.

  1. Digital Library

          The digital library consists of 30 systems for accessing subscribed e-journals, e-books, and other e-learning resources.

Borrowing Privileges

Students and faculty members must have a library membership to borrow books. Each member must apply for library membership using a designated form available on the library webpage and must include a recent passport-sized photograph.

Access System

The library provides open access to enable staff and students to consult and select books for the effective utilisation of resources.

Shelves Arrangement

Books are systematically organised using the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) system, allowing for open-access browsing.

Loss of Books

Lost books must be reported immediately. Borrowers must replace the same title or pay four times the replacement cost if they fail to do so.

Overdue Charges

A late fee of Rs. 1.00 per day is charged for books returned after the due date.

Book Recommendations

Students and faculty members can recommend books using the designated recommendation form available on the library webpage.

Library Automation

The Library uses the NewGenLib Integrated Library Management System (ILMS) version 3.2, which improves the efficiency of cataloguing, circulation, acquisitions, and real-time Management Information System (MIS) reporting. The library operates in a barcode-enabled environment, ensuring accuracy and speed throughout all services.

Additionally, an Automated Self-Service Kiosk allows for quick check-ins, check-outs, and renewals, with instant receipt generation. The barcode-based NGL E-Gate, integrated with the ILMS, accurately tracks user entries and daily footfall.

Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC)

All records of books available in the library are accessible through the NewGenLib OPAC, which enables users to locate books and materials by author, title, keyword, or publisher.

Digital Library

The Library offers access to a Digital Library equipped with 30 computer systems that provide high-speed internet and IP-based access to a wide range of electronic resources. Users can easily access e-journals, e-books, e-learning materials, and other digital content while on campus.

The Library subscribes to major digital platforms, including IEEE ASPP + POPs, the ASME Digital Collection, the ASCE Library, J-Gate (Social & Management Sciences), and World E-Book Library, which hosts over 3.5 million e-books. Furthermore, through institutional memberships with DELNET and NDLI, users enjoy expanded access to a broader array of resources and inter-library loan services, ensuring comprehensive support for research and learning.
